So
here is the stream of TAAB2 by Ian Anderson. Being a huge Tull fan I am
still quite sceptical wether the world realy needs a sequel 40 years
down the line. The 1972 "Brick" album may have been a spoof but it is
one the very best prog albums of all time. I will listen of course but
it makes you wonder what comes next? will Yes next release be "Fragile 2
Frail" for Christmas? AC/DC releasing their "Back In Black... Again" in
2020? or Maiden giving us their "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Of A
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Of A Bitch" in 2028?...
After listening -twice ,of couse - I think that tt is a fine set of songs.
Anderson is a great songwriter as allways. But the title of the album
still makes it a bit odd. For many people the "Brick" tag will raise
expectations beyond what the album has to offer. It
is NOT the long awaited masterpiece, or the "if only" time machine back
to 1972. It is a great follow-up to the 2003 Christmas Album or the
"Rupi's dance" album from that same year. Nothing more, nothing less.
Will I buy it? Of course. Released in various formats on April 2nd
